Areas of Interest
My academic interests lie in the development of Indian family law, with a particular focus on its evolving legal and social dimensions.
Aparna completed her LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, UK, and her B.A.
LL.B. (Hons.) from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, Kerala.
Prior to joining the University, she was a faculty member at O.P. Jindal Global Law
School, Sonipat, where she taught Family Law, Legal Methods, and Procedural Law. She also served as Assistant Dean of the B.A. LL.B. programme and Faculty Advisor to the Trial Advocacy Society.
Her research interests lie in family law, personal laws, and legal pluralism. Her recent
papers include the article “Prenuptial Agreements in the Indian Context” in the Journal of Indian Law Institute and the book chapter “Customs, Family Law and the Indian Judiciary: A Stalemate” in the book titled “Resistance, Resilience, and Reform: Gender-Just Family Laws and Feminist Engagements in South Asia” She has presented her research at conferences hosted by the University of Colombo, the National University of Singapore, and the International Law Society, Lisbon, Portugal. She has also completed the Faculty Development Programme at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Aparna is passionate about making legal education engaging and accessible. She
believes that students should study law not only to excel in examinations but also to
appreciate its intellectual richness and relevance. Her teaching seeks to foster
curiosity, critical thinking, and a lasting interest in the law.
