Varshita Dhanda holds a B.A. (Research) in English from Shiv Nadar University and
an M.A. in English Literature, Media and Cultural Studies from Wilson College, Mumbai University.

Her research explores the intersections of media, language, and culture, with particular attention to how digital and visual cultures shape identity, meaning, and contemporary social life. Her master’s dissertation examines hyperreality, aspirational modernity, and regional identity in contemporary Haryanvi music videos through the lens of media and cultural theory, drawing on thinkers such as Jean Baudrillard, Roland Barthes, and Stuart Hall. Her broader academic interests include cultural studies, media studies, visual culture, digital humanities, semiotics, and discourse analysis.

Her undergraduate research on internet-driven semantic change among college students was published in the Jadavpur Journal of Languages and Linguistics. She has also undertaken independent research on urban memory, heritage, and digital culture, reflecting a broader interest in the relationship between language, place, and representation.

As a writing instructor, Varshita is interested in helping students develop writing as a process of inquiry, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement. Her teaching focuses on academic writing, close reading, revision, argumentation, and effective communication, while encouraging students to navigate emerging technologies, including generative AI, with integrity and purpose. She is particularly interested in supporting students as they develop clear, persuasive, and analytically rigorous writing across disciplines.
