Areas of Interest
Shubho Roy has a JSD from the University of Chicago and an LL.B (Hons.) from NUJS Kolkata. He works in law, economics and public choice theory. Shubho’s current research projects focus on international taxation, judicial delays and housing regulation. His thesis attempts to understand incentives at the state level for why cities around the world have slums. More broadly, Shubho is interested in explaining unexpected outcomes in society through the incentives created through the legal system.
Prior to joining the University of Chicago, Shubho was a researcher at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy in New Delhi, India. His work involved legal and policy research in financial regulation, capital control, bankruptcy, and health laws.
Shubho has an LLB from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and was a Clerk to a judge of the Supreme Court of India.
